SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (AP) - A woman suffered third-degree burns after what appeared to be the spontaneous combustion of rocks that had been scooped up from a Southern California beach, a fire official said.
The 43-year-old woman's children collected the rocks Saturday at San Clemente Beach, and she tucked them into the pocket of her shorts, according to the Orange County Register.

the report says she was standing in her kitchen when it happened and she found them on the beach . If it were caused by water would it not have ignited at the beach rather than standing in her kitchen?.. On the beach they were exposed and in her kitchen they were still in her pocket. Much less likely to be exposed to water unless she spilled some on herself and drenched her shorts, it would be unlikely.
Perhaps radiation is implicated?
Very strange! Perhaps magnesum and potasium permaganate! Water will light it up!
well I think when one reacts it is one's instinct that takes over. I really doubt the first thing that came to mind was that the rocks in her pocket had been set alight. I think she felt the heat and reacted to fire just as she had been taught. Just as we have all been conditioned from childhood.
If the cause of the combustion was phosphorus, wouldn't the rocks have been set alight a lot sooner. Like let's say when she was walking and the greatest friction was taking place?
Another thing that is very interesting is the fact that her husband also sustained burns trying to put out the fire on the kitchen floor where the rocks fell out of her burned shorts. I don't think we are going to be getting any truth forthcoming about the true nature of those rocks. They very well may not even be terrestrial in nature.
Authorities cannot even tell us the truth about what is killing the Dolphins and the birds after months of analysis. They are still telling us the Gulf is coming back and sea life is just fine. I don't think any real explanations will be forthcoming about this incident. Simply excuses to placate our curiosity. IMHO
question, if she placed the rocks in the pockets of her trousers, then the rocks burst into flame , surely the first reaction is to take her trousers off thus removing the fire from her body? does that not make sense? when you are in this situation modesty goes out the window does it not?
Could it be that the rocks were covered in some sort of combustible that fell from ships on the area?
It's a scary story, I allways collect stones and rocks everywhere I go.
Fascinating. Could it be that incoming energies are transforming the nature of things? If so, we are in for one heck of a ride. Imagine the implications. I wrote a story back in the late 80's called Wild Blue where escalating earth changes were causing things to go haywire on earth. In the story, wild blue is an aberrant blue ball lightning that starts popping up all over the planet, decimating everything it encounters.
Any ideas? Thearticle says phosphorus....but it seems to me that they would have "caught" on fire before leaving the beach or am I just reaching?
