  • In the history of Earth, a direct strike by a solar flare has probably happened many times - it is only in very recent history (say over the past 50 years or so) that it would have a devastating effect on our way of life (due to our reliance and electricity and the electrical grid).

We all need to get back to mainly self reliant communities especially for food and essential items. There is still room for trade and electronics - but we should be less reliant on the electrical systems.

The ultimate answer, of course, is to move to a system devised by Tesla - basically a free energy system - that I believe did not rely on a network to supply the energy - but where each community could create it's own energy. This may not stop the "frying" of electronic components in the case of a direct strike by a solar flare (or by some other form of attack) but it would mean entire countries would not be reliant on an electronic grid system.
