It's fine. I just tried to pin it and Ning is acting up, so I'll pin it as soon as I can.
Okay. Set it up as a Discussion. Once you do, I'll pin it to the top, left of the main page, in the pinned blogs section.
We could start a blog for Radio questions and pin it. Want to moderate it, Lee?
Thanks Lee - muchly appreciated.
Lee Craciun - I am very interested in obtaining communication equipment and was interested in what you described as "a small back/pack radio that is self contained, waterproof etc,and have a hand generator to charge the 24v batteries also".
Can you please provide make and model? Do you know if they are still available to purchase?
Also, does it match the following criteria (using your words)?
"... important to have a hand crank radio that dose sw(short wave) and more important that the radio recieves Ssb signals used by ham radio operators. On lower bands like 160_80 m we use AM for the most part..."
As you may have guessed - I have virtually no experience in this area so - but I am keen to prepare properly.
That's cool. I'll have to pull it out and see what it has. I know we have a local radio association, so I should check it out.
I've not seen or heard anything that makes me think anything will be different. It seems like it will be a sleight of hand majik trik.
Lee, I have an old tube radio, weighs about a thousand pounds, give or take an ounce or two. It's in a wooden case, kind of like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-WINDSOR-2-BAND-WOOD-TUBE-RADIO-NICE-/38.... I don't see the brand name on it. Would it be worth restoring?
Yep that about the sum of it. I really have to laugh at all the safe zone maps.
I was living in NV below Hoover dam in an unsustainable environment. I chose the pacific North West in Idaho in the town of Bayview. Who really knows where a safe place really is. My only draw back is Hanford nuclear waste dump 225 miles south and Fukushima fallout. Canada is 75 miles north. Yellowstone is 405 miles south, so maybe my safe spot is not so safe after all. In NV we were chemtrailled so much my throat got soar from it and it is the same here. Something has to change soon.
I bought a S/W L/W crank radio a couple years ago, I am retired and have little expendable income anymore. I choose to live in the wilderness so a part-time job is almost impossible to find. I prefer to not work for the slave system anyway.
