I was alerted last night that, what have turned out to be rumors, are going around about the US and Canadian Governments suddenly taking recessions.  It reminded me of last year.  But, I had to look.  The US Gov't usually has a 5-week recess in the summer.  Looks like the Canadian Gov't does too.  But if anyone hears anything different, post a link.

Canadian Parliament

September 9th and 10th show some activity

No entries for October.

However, a five-week summer break is not unusually:  http://news.yahoo.com/congress-didnt-much-leaving-recess-totally-took-care-133328059.html

To add fuel to the fire, there are rumors that the Queens of Belgium and England are on extended vacations with their families.  It appears Belgium took a vacation in late July.  http://www.nanaimodailynews.com/news/nation-world/belgium-s-king-albert-says-he-will-abdicate-in-favour-of-crown-prince-philippe-on-july-21-1.340995.  And Queen Elizabeth takes an annual summer vacation to Scotland:  http://www.thestar.com/news/world/2013/07/17/royal_baby_watch_queen_elizabeth_impatient_as_vacation_looms.html

And in my wanderings, I see I miss that Emir Hamad bin Khalifa of Qatar abdicated his throne in 2013, too.  http://royaltyinthenews.com/category/belgium
