The rain has already started in southwest VA. It was in the 50s today and raining.  In January.  Crazy.

Local weather is calling for 4-8 inches of wet snow.

This map indicates 6-12 inches for our area.  I'm ready for winter to end.

  • The electric company came by pretty quickly, we had no power for a little over 2 hours (in the dark).  And there were only 4 houses affected back our private lane most of which have woodstoves.  We had candles lit all over the place.  It was fun!  The power line came down in front of the neighbors (first house on the right when coming down the lane).  Now they want to get a generator!
  • We were warned that could happen, about downed power lines from the weight of the snow on tree limbs.

  • Hee hee now a tree takes out a power line down the lane. Thank goodness we have a woodstove! (Guess the weight of the snow took out a big limb)
  • Daughter gets day off of school because of the snow.  She's not complaining!!!  :)
