  • Kim, Hi. The majority of JW are real cool people who enjoy life and partying in their own way (including alcohol) just like the rest of us. Many are from generations of JW family and therefore they just follow with no questions asked. They do make sense of certain scriptures which seems as an intelligent answer and I must admit they do have some things right on point and most of them do live by bible moral standards. But the same can be said other religions too. We are all human; no one has a monopoly on truth in this world. In my opinion, it all boils down to the individual and  and not a religious group. I would think that in a forum like this one, we can all express our thoughts with no predujice, only constructive information with good intentions.

  • No offense taken Markus.  Exactly, no one knows the true meaning of certain scriptures (except for God of course).   That is interesting that JW's have changed their definitions of  Bible Prophecies.  BTW, I do have JW's show up at my door many times in the past 10 years.  I have not seen them come by in the past year (don't know why).  But I usually just be nice to them and take their literature.  And a friend of mine who got sucked in by the JW's was trying to convince me to join.  I basically be nice and say I was raised catholic and I am happy with my own beliefs.  :)  I think they finally gave up hee hee.

  • JAK, there was no indication of your intent, so please say something ahead of time.  It came across as a pronouncement, which we don't do here.

I am a former Jehovah's Witness and before that I was in a non-denominational church. I have to say that as a Witness we studied the bible more than the average "Christian" NO OFFENSE to anyone, I can say this because the JW's have a meeting once a week for 2 hours that focuses on bible study and how to answer questions using the bible.

This is what I have learned with my experience. No one knows the true meaning of certain scriptures and most certainly The Book of Revelations. The JW themselves have changed their definitions of prophecies relating to Revelations. I do believe there will be an time where we will have to make a choice, but it's not as narrow as the Bible would have you believe. Why? Because other religions/cultures have their own Armageddon story. So taking that into account, the Golden Thread if an impending change ( for the good in my eyes, but with pain as well) will happen. But when? No one knows. all we can do is continue to search for the what makes sense and decipher what is good or bad for yourself.

  • The reason I posted this was, well,... Who do you believe or trust? I will have to sit it out and make my own descision. As far as I have been come to know is to trust no one, not even best friends. But this is hard to do when best friends are on the same wavelength.??

  • Paul, FYI these kinds of discussions belong in the Christianity-Catholic discussion.  Religion is a hot topic that leads to dissension, so it works much better to take it to the group.
