Tonight's Lightning Storm

A friend saw it and called to tell me it was just like I had been saying...the bolts were big and he saw 5 or 6 go across the entire sky at the same time. He said it was freaky and scary. And I said...it's just the beginning of the show!

  • lol, he could be struck by lightening! It's so frustrating when people maneuver the system to get money. I am familiar with those types; keeping in mind that it will come back to bite you - what goes around comes around. I saw your post about the "Extreme Warnings" and "God Center". The severity of these lightening storms are warnings.
  • Yeah my dad moved the car for some silly reason (cannot remember what it was). I had a cat that would freak in a bad storm. He would run downstairs and hide under the couch. BTW, like I said there has been several severe storms in our area this summer, we got lucky as they would go right around us. Funny thing is last summer (09) there was someone's place who kept getting hit over and over again with severe storms and heavy downpours north of Gettysburg. We would be missed. This person is greedy, and uses lawsuits to try to get money from other people. Makes me think the man upstairs was trying to tell this person something.
  • Kim, unbelievable, so your Dad knew to move the car, good thing no one was hurt. It's interesting that you say how the storm will dissipate because generally that happens over here as well. In fact, we haven't had many storms at all this summer in comparison to last year, but the few we have had were ferocious. I just couldn't get over how Caesar, my gs was so nervous, tried some Kava in his water and Rescue Remedy too, even the calms forte for kids. too funny, my poor doggie.
  • My parents were visiting friends in Baltimore when a bad storm hit (on the 22nd). Mom said it was really bad. Dad had moved his car in the driveway up three feet before it came. The storm knocked out a huge tree in the yard covering all three cars in the driveway. If dad would not have moved his car beforehand, it would have been flattened. The vehicle sustained minor damage compared to what would have happened.

Funny thing is I watched these storms go through on my droid, and when a line would come over us, it would dissipate in the middle, and we would get very little lightening and thunder (would have taken more rain). However when you looked around, you saw very dark clouds, saw lots of lightning in the distance, and heard lots of rumbling (we are about 60 miles northwest of Baltimore). We lucked out!
  • Cheryl, the lightening was unbelievable, frequent large bolts, and then the cloud mass were illuminated by those that were embedded. The storm was coming from PA and I saw it from a distance first and then drove into it, as I was returning home (my 17 and 8 yr old were home). I called my son to make sure that our dogs were in the house and had pulled into garage just as it started to pour. As this was progressing, my German Shepherd was flipping out like never before. I'm so concerned for the animals during those hours when the pole shift happens. As I looked out onto the backside of our property and watched the intensity of the rain and lightening, realizing how frightening this will be for many as we hunker down in a shelter or cave.
