“In many cases, consumers are shopping blind when it comes to what doctors and hospitals are included in their Obamacare exchange plans,” said Josh Archambault, senior fellow with the think tank Foundation for Government Accountability. “These patients will be in for a rude awakening once they need care, and get stuck with a big bill for going out-of-network without realizing it.”

  • Maybe the bankruptcy laws have changed, but I thought medical bills were dischargable under bankruptcy.  It was things like IRS liens, student loans, and child support that isn't.  BK is federal law, though there are exemptions that are particular to each state.

  • I am not sure how that is going to work. That will make anyone that goes to the wrong hospital in an emergency situation maybe owing more than they can afford to pay back, you know like our government.

  • Byron, I have been through chapter 7 bankruptcy due to the economy destroying my husband's business.  What we were told, here in PA, that medical bills do not get wiped out with chapter 7.  Now unless states are different on this I don't know,

  • What next ? personal bankruptcy sounds like the agenda. 1 heart attack could destroy your life. Will people be able to travel to another state and even get care if something happens to them.
