  • Yes I would bet on an earthquake doing this since there was a sucking back of the ocean.

  • Yeah, the derecho theory has been been bouncing around, but doesn't make much sense.  Tsunamis are caused by undersea earthquakes or landslides.

  • Yamkin says it was the energy created by a line of thunderstorms over the atlantic at that time.  I saw the radar, the thunderstorm line had a real definite curve to it.  

  • There was a mid-Atlantic EQ recently, maybe something like that caused it?

  • What the article described, sounds like a tsunami.

  • June 13th a small tsunami hit the coast of New Jersey knocking some people off rocks along the shore.  Plus people swimming got caught in it.  They said it was caused by a storm off of the shore.  On the fence on that one.
