The trouble with a boat shelter is that the seafood you could catch could be radioactive, especially in the Pacific. Plus the rogue waves being experienced more and more frequently. Chickens on a boat? What would they eat? How would you feed rabbits?
This really is a massive problem. Time for some real brain-storming. Are there any other alternatives? Going underground, but you need expert advice on how to put something like a container underground and not have it collapse from the weight of the dirt. How would you garden? What kind of half-life are we talking about? Months? Years? Tens of Years? Thousands of Years?
Without intervention of the ET kind, even if you take every precaution, the outlook is slow death by radiation.
