  • Ahhhh now that makes sense....very good point.....I highly recommend those considering hiding out in cave systems to take the time to find one that is off the beaten path.....one less likely to have visitors....

  • What I was getting at is starting off with two good well charged batts you could gain entrance to these caves! then you would beable to deploy Solar/Wind/Water Generating!
  • Having a power saw of any type is a boon but not as practical as a plain old wood handled saw.....why, because there will come a point in time that electricity will not be available to you until you have set up a sustainable method of generating electricity.....I have researched crank generators as a viable option but it would fall well short of the needed voltage to power most power tools......I recommend at some point investing in a 6k generator because that is the bare minimum needed for soldering which will be a crucial part of fabrication.....
  • I suggest having a Battery operated Reciprocating, or Circulating Saw with extra metal cutting blades, Extra Batts too!

  • Allot of the favorite Caves in the Ozarks(not the Business ones that make money) have like a cage type fronts to keep people out, the brown Bears can't get in either! In the past caves were wide open you had to wander off the path to find them. The cruel world that took over the favorite camping spots where only there to do drugs, or drink till out, never was any camping supplies. At first one maybe two would wander over and ask for food having spent all of their money only on Drugs or Alcohol, if you went canoeing you find most of your stuff gone! These favorite camping areas are closed to only visits during day hrs now!
  • IF there happens to be severe windstorms and or potential fire storms, I have a shipping container to hide in if need be.  I wonder which parts of the world will be hit hardest by potential fire storms.    I have a feeling when things get bad with PX, people that will be panicking in my area will be trying to get into Site R.
  • Here is a sobering first that occurred to me yesterday....the TV kicked in with the broadcast system warning for my area for a tornado....the warning lasted a total of 20 mins.....strange if you ask me.  Keep in mind that I am in Chicago....

  • Iam surrounded by subtle reminders of what is coming.  This morning the emergency sirens sounded and a moment later they did the test of the emergency broadcast system on tv.  This was a first for me, both happening at the same time!  My blood ran cold!  Then I was on here reading the blog about cave closings and a local news story popped up on the tv about the Maquokata Caves still being closed to stop the spread of white nose fungus to the bats!  It was uncanny and more than a little ironic.  The creator works in strange ways to keep me on my toes!

    Namaste,

    Coedwig

  • Prudent, Kim, very prudent.  I like the idea of being able to take shelter from fire storms and wind and solar radiation and all but they are all trumped by the vision of me being buried alive.....will find other ways to deal with the high drama......
