Homegrown Revolution

This video is a few years old, but is just as relevant today (if not more so) as it was when it was first released.

My apologies if I'm repeating something that may have already been posted - although probably quite some time ago.

I came across it whilst searching the net for a hand-cranked blender and thought it was a great example of urban self survival.

Just imagine if groups of people pooled their resources (ie available land/space and growing expertise) within each community/suburb/precinct.  Wow!

  • Cool, Peter.

  • I loved the inspiration of this video as well - glad you enjoyed it.

Cheryl, thanks for the link - I also found them on www.amazon.com Cheryl - about the same price.

  • Inspiration plus thanks Peter.

  • Thank you for sharing!!!  We can all make a difference one plant at a time!!  This is the direction of positivity and possibility that our planet needs!! Thanks again for the great message of inspiration!!

  • You need to be 100+ feet from roads because auto emissions contaminate gardens.

  • Cool.  I will share this on my fb page.  I am not urban, THANK GOD as I would hate it but there are so many people that are urban.  As to keeping farm animals, most urban places do not allow this, except for in certain urban places there is allowed a small flock of hens for eating eggs only.  I know in the nearby town of Emmitsburg, a 12 year old boy approached the Town with a petition to allow people to keep chickens on their property within the town limits.  Guess, what, they voted on it and it was approved.  So now the people of Emmitsburg can keep up to 6 hens (no roosters) for eating eggs only.

I am fortunate that so far I have been able to hold on to my little farmette as I am able to grow food and keep hens and roosters so I can grow more hens and have eating eggs.  However, I do not, and will not slaughter any animals on my property.

  • Thanks Peter. What an inspiration!!

It really gave me the urge to go home and start doing something with my backyard, even though it's tiny comparing with this guy's back yard.  I'll start groeing vegies in planters.  Sadly, I can't grow any farm animals, hrer it's prohibited.

  • Awesome video.  Thanks for posting, Peter.  This truly is what people need to begin doing to regain their independence and health.
