Supplies of clean drinking water will run dry in two to four weeks. For safety and security reasons, most water supply plants maintain a larger inventory of supplies than the typical business. However, the amount of chemical storage varies significantly and is site specific. According to the Chlorine Institute, most water treatment facilities receive chlorine in cylinders that are delivered by motor carriers. On average, trucks deliver purification chemicals to water supply plants every seven to 14 days. Without these chemicals, water cannot be purified and made safe for drinking.

  • Paul, if your country depends on trucks to deliver goods and something happens to stop them, then I would say yes.  There are many, many reasons to be prepared.

  • does this apply to every country?

  • very very very frightening. in a week total chaos, panic, in two weeks society crumbling, to its bare bones of functionality, in three t four weeks mad max and his gang roams every street. after that for me its head for the hills. and stay clear of all urban areas. I believe we should begin to store seed, I am  keeping back some seed not planted this year and jf things get really serious may think of stocking up for the long term. learn what wild plants we can eat even just to fill our bellies.  Even going back to eating meat may be  matter if survival for me, I don;t know. What we should be watching for now is the killshot, this is the clincher from now on. earthquakes and volcanoes can be tolerated, but not breakdown of the power system.
