After having many successful gardens, this year was a flop. I knew it was the last time I could practice my skills before the next garden after the pole shift  that would have to feed my family for a year. The rain made the leaves yellow and wilt. I moved most to the porch out of the rain and the peppers and tomatoes did well. My neighbors failed too. We got a late start with the winter hanging on. Germination of the seeds was poor for some reason, even with Heirloom seeds. Many on this site have mentioned having problems. How did you guys do ??

  • A lot burned, even in the shade.  My 'maters were small (but flavorful) and there weren't many survivors.
  • Blueberries and cherries dry better if they are cut in half. Blackberry seem to dry funny. I have not dryed onions yet because I have read that they smell quite strong when they dry.
  • Will do, Pat.
  • Joan, I have dried corn, peppers, bananas, but have not tried the fruit. Let us know how it turns out. I may give it a try.
