Hearing is something most of us take for granted. But it is one of our most important senses, aiding us in our day-to-day activities, and plays an important role in our safety.
The sad thing is most Americans don’t realize how their ears can be damaged until they experienced frustrating ear problems.
It is estimated that over 50 million Americans suffer from ringing in the ears (tinnitus) in their lifetime. Tinnitus is a hearing condition that is associated with the constant misperception of sound, including hissing, ringing and rushing noises.
The loud ringing sounds can be extremely unbearable that it cause days, weeks or months of sleepless nights, and deteriorate the overall health of most people.
To add on to that, prolonged damage to the ear could cause hearing loss.
The risk of damage to your hearing is based on two factors: how loud and for how long.
Experts agree that continued exposure to noise at or above 85 dB over time can cause hearing loss.
You’ve been listening too loudly or for too long if you have ringing in your ears or dull hearing after listening to loud music. However, you may still be damaging your hearing even if you don’t have these symptoms.
Just recently, I’ve talked with renowned medical researcher, James Tylor, who has dedicated his life to finding an effective natural solution to hearing problems. His original motivation was to help his brother, Timothy, cure his tinnitus and improve his overall well-being.
And I'm happy to report that he has succeeded -- without any drugs or surgery.
He shared with me some safety tips for your ears after years of experience and research:
1) Monitor your exposure time to loud music - For instance, listen to your music at 60% of the MP3 player's maximum volume for no more than 1 hour a day.
2) Move away from on-stage monitors or amplifiers. Position yourself so you are not directly in front of the speaker while performing or listening. Musicians should avoid practicing at performance levels when possible.
3) Wear ear protectors or earplugs. The louder the noise and the longer you're exposed to it, the greater the chance of damaging your hearing. Protect your ears with ear protectors – earplugs or earmuffs – and get away from the noise as quickly or as often as you can.

A desert farm located in Australia utilizes hydroponic methods and clean energy to grow 18,000 tomato plants.

Though there is presently enough food on the planet to feed 10 billion people, 795 million people still go to bed hungry every night. It’s for this reason that a number of innovative citizens have dedicated their talents to developing effective ways one might grow food in both urban and harsh environments. Philipp Saumweber, CEO of Sundrop Farms, is but one individual who has discovered how to do just that.
The Sundrop Farm presently cultivates 18,000 tomato plants in an Australian desert using nothing more than sunlight and seawater. Crops are grown in a hydroponic greenhouse lined with water-drenched cardboard, which means there is no need for soil, fossil fuels, groundwater, or pesticides.
Located near Port Augusta in Australia, the 20-hectare farm opened its doors in October of 2016. Though it cost $200 million to build, Saumweber is confident the facility will pay itself off in the future. After all, there will be no need to purchase fossil fuels, though hooking up to ‘the grid’ during winter might be necessary at times.
