"In the ad, the president says “over 5 million new jobs” while the figure “5.2 million” appears on screen. But that’s a doubly misleading figure.
- Viewers would need to pay close attention to the on-screen graphic to know that the ad refers only to employment gains starting in March 2010, omitting the 4.3 million jobs that were lost in the first year of Obama’s term.
- And there’s no way a viewer would know that the total counts only private-sector jobs, omitting continuing losses in government employment.
According to the most recent employment figures from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the economy has eked out a net gain of 325,000 jobs since January 2009, when Obama took office. And that’s giving credit for roughly 386,000 jobs that the BLS has announced, on a preliminary basis, that it will be adding to this year’s employment totals next year, as a result of its routine annual “benchmarking” analysis.
Looking only at private-sector jobs, it’s true that the total has risen just under 5.2 million since February 2010 — provided that credit is given for roughly 453,000 private-sector jobs to be added next year through the BLS benchmarking process. But over Obama’s entire term, those private-sector jobs have gone up only 967,000, even counting benchmarking additions.
Other claims in the ad are essentially accurate: Exports are rising; home values have begun to recover; U.S. automakers are making profits, for example. And viewers can judge for themselves how they feel about the “plan for the next four years” that the president briefly outlines in the ad, which is couched in broad generalities.
But viewers who follow the ad’s invitation to visit an Obama website for further information will find some false and misleading claims. There, the campaign, for example, states that “Mitt Romney criticized the end of the Iraq war as ‘tragic,’ and has offered no plan withdraw our troops from Afghanistan.”
In fact, as we’ve reported before, Romney did not call the end of the Iraq war “tragic.” He used that word to describe the president’s pace of troop withdrawal, not ending a war. And more important, there is no longer any difference between Romney’s position and Obama’s plan to pull all U.S. combat troops out of Afghanistan by the end of 2014. Romney, whose position has evolved from criticism to unqualified acceptance, said during the final presidential debate on the night before the ad was released: “[W]hen I’m president, we’ll make sure we bring our troops out by the end of 2014.”

Monster East Coast storm next week or big miss?
Weather model simulations of possible storm next week. Top left is latest European model showing possible severe impact in eastern New England. Top right is latest Canadian model with severe impact in the northern mid-Atlantic. Bottom image is latest GFS model showing storm well out to sea, potentially threatening Bermuda. (Top left Environment Canada, top right Weatherbellmodels.com, bottom StormVistaWxModels.com) A few computer models have conjured up a storm of epic proportions for the mid-Atlantic and/or Northeast next week. But before anyone presses the panic button, other models keep the storm out to sea.
Because of the pre-storm hype resonating through social media streams, let’s clear the air by answering some basic questions and sharing some expert opinions...
How likely is a big storm? The pieces are there for a big storm, the question is whether and where they come together.
Based on current information, I’d give slightly better than 50 percent odds that a significant storm impacts some place in the mid-Atlantic and/or Northeast early next week, but just a 20 percent chance of a storm affecting Washington, D.C. directly. A landstrike north of Washington, D.C.’s latitude appears to be more likely than south. So this could end up being a bigger deal in New England than the mid-Atlantic.
As always with East Coast storms, the location where the different pieces of energy come together and at what time will play a huge role in where, if anywhere, the worst effects are. This cannot be predicted with confidence 7-9 days ahead of time (right now).
What is the worst case scenario? For the mid-Atlantic, it would probably resemble current model simulation of the Canadian model or last night’s European model. In these scenarios, what’s now tropical depression 18 intensifies into a hurricane - named Sandy - near the Bahamas and then combines with a powerful mid-lattiude cold front (upper level trough) approaching the East Coast. The result is a super-intense, slow-moving “hybrid storm”- as powerful as a major hurricane. Potential effects include:
* tremendous coastal flooding (exacerbated by a full moon and higher than normal tides)
* copious rainfall and damaging winds extending a few hundred miles inland - including the Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia and New York City regions.
(For eastern New England, the latest European model, shown above, is a fairly dire scenario)
What about snow in this worst case scenario? The European model from last night, taken literally, suggested some heavy precipitation falling as wet snow during the storm, even at low elevations in the mid-Atlantic. I don’t buy that solution at all. Because any storm will have tropical roots, it will likely transport some of that warm, moist air inland - even if D.C. were on the cold side of the storm.
At high elevations in western Maryland , interior Pennsylvania and, perhaps, the Blue Ridge, some - or even a lot of - heavy snow would be possible depending on the exact track of the storm. Obviously, if heavy snow were to fall in late October in places where foliage remains, the tree damage could be devastating.
How likely is this worst case scenario? Probably around 5 percent but subject to change (upward or downward)
What are different meteorological voices saying about this storm scenario?
At the heart of the issue, meteorologically:
Steve Tracton, CWG: “The biggest issue is whether [tropical storm or hurricane] Sandy phases [combines] with the approaching front and upper air low such that it undergoes “extratropical transition”, that is, a tropical cyclone moving into the mid-latitudes and transforms into an extratropical cyclone.”
“Tropical and extratropical cyclones are driven by fundamentally different physical mechanisms (sources of energy). In a “perfect storm” scenario (like that seemingly in the ECMWF prediction) the hybrid can generate a system more powerful and pose a more serious threat (wind/ precipitation) to land and maritime interests than either system alone.”
“That may or may not happen, but that it is a distinct possibility warrants a loud and clear “Heads Up” to stay tuned.”
NOAA: THERE ARE TWO MAJOR FEATURES AT THE MEDIUM RANGE INFLUENCING THE FLOW- THE TROPICAL LOW EMERGING FROM THE CARIBBEAN SEA NORTHWARD TO THE BAHAMAS, AND THE AMPLIFYING POLAR JET OVER THE CENTRAL AND EASTERN UNITED STATES. JUST HOW THESE FORCES INTERACT IS CRUCIAL, BUT AT THE TIME RANGE AT HAND, PREDICTING THEIR DANCE IS DICEY AT BEST.
On historic precendent
Elliott Abrams, AccuWeather: “There is a significant historical precedent for a storm to form around where this is located... and then turn into a real hurricane. In 1878, a storm formed near Jamaica (near where the new storm is) then became a Category 2 hurricane and moved right up the East coast. The center passed east of Florida, then came ashore in eastern North Carolina and stayed inland until it turned almost straight east over the southern parts of Vermont and New Hampshire. There was extensive damage from the Carolinas to New England, and more than 71 people were killed. This storm came to be known as the Gale of ‘78.”
Jesse Ferrell, AccuWeather: “...remember that this has happened before, with Hurricane Wilma in 2005 when it (almost) merged into a nor’easter and moved up the East Coast causing 74-mph wind gusts at the Jersey shore and over 20 inches of snow in the mountains.”
Joe Bastardi, WeatherBell (via Twitter): “The amazing thing about all this is the PATTERN argues for it.. large scale very similar to Hazel, 1954.”
Specific forecasts
Larry Cosgrove: “The Mid-Atlantic region (including the Virginias) and lower Great Lakes are in for one hell of a time in the October 29 - 31 period. Snow may be a big problem in elevated areas west of the storm track, which I think will be from Cape Henlopen DE to near Toronto ON.” (via Mike Masco meteorologist Facebook page)
Ryan Hanrahan, Connecticut broad meteorologist: “The most likely scenario is a storm that’s no big deal here in Connecticut. To get a hurricane-like storm up the coast in October is very rare. To get a storm that interacts just perfectly with the jet stream to strengthen as it moves toward the northeast is very rare. To get a storm that is absorbed by a digging trough and is flung northwest into the northeastern U.S. is exceptionally rare.”
Matt Noyes, New England broadcast meteorologist: “So...where this leaves us is a forecast of a likely coastal creature with impact of heavy rain and gusty wind sometime Sunday-Tuesday timeframe, but just how much and just how strong remains to be seen. ... part of the reason for focus at this point is that, if everything comes together in a worst-case scenario, this would be an extremely damaging storm for much of the coastal Eastern United States, and particularly the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast corridor.”

Premature hype
CWG tropical weather expert Brian McNoldy (via Twitter): “this hype is already ridiculous. Doesn’t matter if it’s 8.5, 8.25, or 8.0 days out, it’s still too far out!”
Eric Fisher, the Weather Channel (via Twitter): “Talking about run to run model changes 7-8 days out seems a bit much. Let’s keep the obsessing at bay until D5 [day 5]”
Bottom line
There is potential for a significant to historic East Coast storm next week, but there is also potential for no storm. For the D.C. area, the most likely impacts would be wind and rain if there’s a storm, with perhaps a snow threat in the mountains. Of all locations, the beaches are most likely to be affected (possible impacts: coastal flooding, beach erosion).
Stay tuned to forecasts over the coming days. It will probably take until mid-to-late week or even longer for forecasters to have a decent handle on this complicated weather scenario.

Solar activity has increased to active during the past 24 hours, featuring a long duration M9.1 flare and six C flares.
The M9.1 flare was released by sunspot region 1598 on the east limb of the Sun and peaked at 18:14 UT on October 20th. A high-speed shock wave registered 516 kilometers per second (320 miles per second) observed at 18:15 UT. An associated CME was observed by LASCO C2 at 19:00 UT, but is not directed towards Earth.
Earlier today sunspot region 1596 produced a M1.3 (2003UT), C7.8 (0316UT), and C5.6 (0534UT). Both regions 1596 and 1598 maintain potential for further isolated M-class to X-class activity.
Solar wind speed is expected to increase slightly days one and two under the influence of a coronal hole wind stream. NASA and NOAA has issued a WARNING for high flying aircraft, the ISS, NSSO and NSTAC due to an increased possibility of satellite deep dielectric discharge.
In a flux of high energy charged particles, they penetrate the spacecraft or satellite's outer surface and bury themselves in dielectric materials such as circuit boards and the insulation in coaxial cables. The buildup of charge will continue until the dielectric strength of the material is exceeded, when a sudden electrical discharge will occur. This miniature lightning stroke can cause permanent damage in the associated or nearby circuitry.
Watch for increased extreme weather events which include earthquake, volcano, tornado, and cyclone activity over the next 48 to 72 hours. |

Earth Soul
Greetings, I am Earth Soul. Some of you call me Gaia. You live on Earth, my physical form, my sphere. Along with the Creator God of this universe, I created this physical form millions of years ago. I am a great soul, not unlike the great souls from which your soul is individuated.
You, my human residents, are asking many questions about forthcoming shifts of my physical form. I am responding to those questions. Let me first address the subject of the shift of the magnetic pole of my physical form. North will become south; south will become north. This will happen rather abruptly in cosmic terms, although the meanderings of my magnetic poles has been recorded by your scientists for some years, and you have evidence that a magnetic pole shift has happened many times before. I will not predict the impact that this pole shift will have on your mechanisms and electronics. It will surely have impact on your psyches. As with many things that we all initiate, we do not necessarily foresee all the ramifications of a given action.
Now let us turn to the matter of the axis of rotation of my physical form. In its current slant it gives my physical form seasons as I rotate about my star. This axis of rotation was distorted many years ago to its present slant. It will now be corrected so that my physical form will rotate perpendicular to my star. This shift is underway, to be completed within 4 rotations about my star. I am looking forward to this correction, as it will produce a moderate climate in most areas of the surface of my physical form. Those of you who remain will be the beneficiaries of such a salubrious climate.
Let us now speak of what it means to “ascend to the 5th Dimension.” At the time I created this sphere, I was vibrating in 5th Dimension. Due to the activities of the dark energy that invaded my physical form, and subsequently my human inhabitants, I dropped out of 5th Dimension. This was a very painful event for me, as I saw my physical form degenerate under the influence of the darkness that prevailed among humans. I was unable to halt my own drift into lower frequencies. For many rotations I drifted in these lower frequencies — I am speaking here as Earth Soul — and attempted to raise my own vibration. Caught in the dark energy’s carefully laid trap, I cried out for help. Creator asked if I wished to continue as the soul of this sphere and return it to its pristine form. I replied yes. It was then that I called out for assistance. Many of your human brothers and sisters from other star systems responded, providing much needed light energy. The process of climbing out of the lower vibrations has been ongoing since that time. As of this communication, I am fully restored to my former 5th Dimension brilliance, but my physical form lags behind.
Now comes the rest of the program to restore my physical form to its former pristine condition. Much has happened, and continues to happen, to my land, water, and air. I speak from personal experience; it is quite painful. Yes, painful, for all in my physical form –rocks, water, plants and animals — are conscious.
Those from around the universe who possess the technology to correct the invasions and corruptions of my land, water, and air stand ready to act. However they cannot do so until the vestiges of the darkness are removed from my physical form. When that happens they will step in and, in conjunction with the humans remaining on my sphere, restore my physical form to its pristine condition
I see that you still have more questions about physical form and how it will change in this process. Rather than ascending to the 5th Dimension, I am talking about bringing 5th Dimension into physical form. This will mean changes to what you currently perceive as my physical form – rocks, water, plants, and animals. What you currently perceive as physical form is very dense, even though it is mostly space. My new physical form will be less dense, and you as a 5th Dimension human of the New Earth will perceive it as less dense, but not without form and some solid characteristics. In addition to being less dense, it will have a glow about it, for it will contain more light. Incidentally, your physical bodies will also be less dense and will radiate an inner glow.
I am aware of the various maps that predict the eventual shape of the surface of my physical form. As you ponder these, keep in mind what is true of all communications from the higher vibrations, including this one: Such communications are highly dependent on the background and dispositions of the person receiving the information. This is true of all communications from the higher vibrations to the lower. From your recent experiences in the higher vibrations, Mark, you know that the higher vibrations exist without words or thoughts. You have had trouble telling others about what you have experienced. “It is beyond words,” you say. Thus to arrive at images or words that can be communicated to others, the impressions from the higher realms must be translated by the receiver.
Thus attempts to communicate how the surface of my physical form will ultimately look are somewhat muddled. Furthermore as I have said before, no one knows exactly how a particular action will play out in physical form. If it is true of your actions, it is certainly true of something as complex as the physical form of my sphere.
I have already begun initiating changes in line with restoring my physical form to a pristine state. Also there is a part of me that enjoys not explaining exactly how it will all turn out. You need a little wonder in your lives. So be cautious about projections of my physical form’s ultimate appearance, and enjoy where you are and what you are doing.
Your abilities as creators are playing a part in the transformation of my physical form. I am most grateful for all who have turned away from the fear-based 3rd Dimension and are now functioning in 4th and 5th Dimensions. Your light energies are enabling me to move more smoothly through my transformation. The same results will occur, but with less trauma to all.
The process of returning my physical form to its pristine condition will require physical changes. Lemuria and Atlantis will once again emerge as significant landmasses. Portions of your current continents will disappear under ocean waters. Some lands will rise in elevation; some will fall. All of this is against a background of a greatly expanded sphere due to the infusion of light and the transformation of dense physical form into lighter physical form. The sum total of these will be a much-changed sphere from the standpoint of landmasses and oceans, and do not forget the moderate climate.
As to the humans who will reside on my physical form, all who remain will be in what you term 4th Dimension – through a mass ascension process. This is an interim phase between the denseness of the 3rd Dimension and the fullness and light of the 5th Dimension. Eventually all humans who remain on my 5th Dimension physical form will, of necessity, be functioning in the 5th Dimension — they will bring the 5th Dimension into their physical forms. Moving from the 4th Dimension density to the 5th Dimension density requires an individual choice on the part of each human. The infusion of the 5th Dimension into physical form is being accelerated by the efforts of numerous light workers as they give of themselves to assist my return to a pristine condition and then my advancement to a brilliant self-illuminating globe. By doing this they assist all to more easily make this transformation. As for the timing of these changes, expect to see the first of them quite soon. The remainder will take several trips about my star.
One additional note, extreme weather, forest fires, volcanic activity, and earthquakes will intensify as I cleanse my physical form. This is not the result of any particular karma, just my need to work out residual fear in the least destructive manner possible. These will end within a few rotations about my star, as we all settle into higher vibrations.
Let me finish by saying that I have great admiration for all humans who choose to incarnate on Earth (my physical form). I know how difficult your time here can be – but remember the lessons that this schoolhouse planet provides. After the transformation of my physical form, those wishing such an “Earthly” experience will need look elsewhere.

My Siberian Huskey Asher likes to take a treat outside with him. This morning I watched him take his beefhide bone into the back yard. He also likes to burry them, but I discurage that. Since my back yard grass is in bad shape due to the drought this summer I decided to let him have some fun. He found a spot near the fence and planted it about four inches down. Then he came in and got another one to take outside. This time he just put it under some leaves. As I watched him haveing fun it hit me, he is saving food. My dog is a Prepper!

Ayn Rand Would Be Proud: Soup Kitchen in Paul Ryan’s Photo Op Loses Funds, Gets Attacked By Conservative Trolls

Last weekend, Paul Ryan demonstrated his compassion for the poor by rolling up his sleeves at an Ohio soup kitchen and faking a photo op. The VP candidate waltzed into a Cleveland-area Mahoning County St. Vincent De Paul Society well after everyone had eaten and left, and washed some pans that may or may not have already been cleaned while reporters took pictures.
In addition to widespread mockery, Ryan’s half-assed attempt to simulate concern for the poor for 15 minutes drew an angry response from the President of the facility, Brian J. Antal, who told the Washington Post that Ryan’s slimy political theater might jeopardize donations to the food bank. “We’re a faith-based organization; we are apolitical because the majority of our funding is from private donations,” he said. ” … we “can’t afford to lose funding from these private individuals.”
As it turns out, the privilege of being Ryan’s background scenery has already taken a toll on the organization. Antal told the Huffington Post t hat many donors have fled, leading to a loss of funds.
“It appears to be a substantial amount,” Antal told the Huffington Post. “You can rest assured there has been a substantial backlash.”
On top of all that, deranged conservatives have been harassing volunteers, Antal claims:
Ryan supporters have now targeted Antal and his soup kitchen, Antal said, including making hundreds of angry phone calls. Some members of Antal’s volunteer staff have had to endure the barrage as well, he said. “The sad part is a lot of [the callers] want to hide behind anonymity,” he said, adding that if someone leaves their name and number he has tried to return their call.
An empty soup kitchen : The [Ryan] family put on aprons and washed several large pans, though they did not appear to need washing, according to a pool reporter.

Reporters barred from covering Paul Ryan exchange with homeless Ohioans

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Paul Ryan visited a soup kitchen here Saturday on his way to the airport, but by the time the GOP vice presidential nominee and his family had arrived shortly before noon, the grits, sausage and doughnuts had been served, the hall was empty of patrons and the volunteers appeared to have already cleaned up.
When Ryan did talk to some men who appeared to be homeless, as he did when he left the venue, reporters were not allowed to listen in on the exchange.
The visit by Ryan came after a town hall meeting Saturday morning at Youngstown State University.
After greeting and thanking a handful of volunteers from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Canfield, Ohio — who said they typically visit the St. Vincent DePaul Society every Saturday and serve food from 10 to 11:30 a.m. — Ryan, his wife and their young children headed to the kitchen, donned white aprons and offered to clean up some dishes.
Ryan stood at the sink and took some large metal pans that did not appear to be dirty, soaped them up and rinsed them, remarking as the cameras clicked and the TV cameras rolled that he had spent a summer washing dishes when he was younger.
