"The Gulf loop current has stopped so this water will get hotter and the North Atlantic will get colder . This is how an ice age starts . We will have a very cold winter with lots of snow and ice as it did last winter . When the snow and ice stays year round in north then there will be more exponentially . More snow more reflection of heat from the sun . Like there wasn't enough going on."

And it's hurricane season....

  • Cool, Tammy.  John is our resident physics/electrical engineering guru who is very good at teaching us "establishment lies."  ;-)

I wish I could have had him as a physics teacher.

  • Keith, doesn't he provide links to the sites he uses?
  • @Cheryl..I did indeed read it and found it very interesting.

@Keith    I found the 1145p (Approx) then nothing until the 321am.

  • Here in Eastern Iowa, we hit 95 degrees.  At 7:20 it is still 91 degrees and the heat index is currently 105 degrees.  This is definitely not unheard of but we are supposed to remain at this heat until Friday with Tuesday being the hottest of the week!  We have an excessive heat warning in effect until Thursday.  What is unique about this heat wave is the duration of the heat.  At least that is what is different for Iowa.  This is August heat and way too long!
  • Sounds plausible, Tammy.  Did you read John DiNardo's theory on the Gulf? I don't remember if he mentioned temperatures, but there is good information there:

  • The high today was 81*.
  • I have a theory:  The water temp is not being affected by the New Madrid.  For that to happen, it would have to be magma present, flow into the Atchafalaya swamp and the Intercoastal Seaway.  I just can't believe that.

BUT, when BP drilled they drilled deeper than ever before.  They went to a depth of about 30,000ft on the edge of the continental shelf.  The average pressure, at a normal depth, is about 1,000/psi if I am correct.  They pressures they were experiencing I believe were 10-17k/psi.  There has been reported leakage 5 miles away seeping out of the sea floor.

My theory is this: at the coordinates listed for the deepwater horizon, it was on a "V" on the shelf.  If they went as far as they claim, then wouldn't it stand to reason that maybe they cracked the crust in that area releasing hot gas or magma?  That would explain the high temps.  What is strange is that even today, I live in Louisiana near the coast, there are no temp readings from louisiana to mississippi.

Please let me know if I am off base on this.

  • It's noon Sunday, 72*
  • So I'll enjoy the cool while I can.  :-)
  • It's coming your way Cheryl!  By next week 40 of the lower 48 are supposed to be in heat warnings!
