Angry protesters took over Albuquerque City Council Monday night calling for immediate change at APD and the ousting of both Albuquerque’s Police Chief, Mayor and more.

Protesters even called for the arrest and issued a “people’s warrant” to APD Chief Gordon Eden.

“This is no longer your meeting, this is the people’s meeting,” protester David Correia, an assistant professor at the University of New Mexico, said into a commandeered microphone as shown in the KRQE video below. “We now serve a people’s warrant for arrest on Albuquerque Police Chief Gordon Eden.”

  • I'm considering the idea of a form of government that is benevolent to the people.  A new word would need to be invented so no old connotations would be dragged along.  A "benevolent dictatorship" doesn't work because that much power should not be invested in one person, but the general idea is there.

A form of government that rotates new people in every year, who serve a term of x years, then become the elders training the new crop.  Once they are out, no reelection.  This perhaps could mitigate bad ones from becoming entrenched and corrupting the entire nest.

People would need to be qualified, not based on money, but on their knowledge of the Constitution, their unblemished character, and their curriculum vitae.  Lawyers and bankers and anyone with extraordinary power would not be allowed to run.  This would enable a level playing field... people governing people... not elites governing people.  Money and power warp the human soul, thus its corrupting effects will not be allowed.

But what of weak government employees being influenced from the side.  Lobbying would not be allowed in any way, shape or form.  Laws would be enacted that would provide for the quick disposition of any government official accused of malpractice.  And any former government employee found peddling power would still be under that law.  The penalty would be stiff to deter bad behavior.  (Not capital punishment, never.  Community service, yes.  Humiliation, possibly (remember stocks and pillories?).

The government standard would be "do unto others" as mitigated by "in the best interest of the people" and "do no harm."

Just some thoughts since the wheels were turning.  And I know this is still thinking in a national context, but for now it's what's in place.  When we can truly trust each other, there will be no need for laws.  Love is the law.

  • Chrys, I love your spirit!  Words matter and words are being changed and used to manipulate people, so it is good to go back and see when and how words get changed.  Dictionary.com is the dictionary of quick and easy first resort, admitted.  But, it still is going against my sensibilities that the meaning of anarchy does not contain the elements of chaos, lawlessness, disorder (sounds to me like a redefinition), so I got out the Mother of All Dictionaries...The Webster's New Universal Unabridged Dictionary, Deluxe Second Edition (weighs 10 pounds, lol), my copy was printed in 1983 and copyrighted back to 1955.  So, let's see what it has to say....

    anarchy [Gr. anarchia [other sources say this is medieval Latin], lack of ruler or government, from Gr. anarchos, without chief or ruler; from an priv., and archos, ruler.]  {The priv. after an means privative, a part of speech that changes a positive term to give it a negative meaning.}

On to the definitions of anarchy...

    1.  the complete absence of government and law.

    2.  political disorder and violence; lawlessness.

    3.  disorder in any sphere of activity.

Synonyms--lawlessness, disorder, tumult, rebellion, riot, insubordination.

So, for almost as long as I've been alive, Webster's Dictionary has listed anarchy as having the elements of lawlessness and disorder.

According to http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/anarchy, first known use of the word anarchy was in 1539.  Here's some more on the history/etymology of the word:  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anarchism.  Going to the Latin anarchia, the meaning is the same:  http://www.latin-dictionary.net/search/english/anarchy, sourced from a revised medieval word list.

Now, the definition of anarchism is 1. the theory that formal government of any kind is unnecessary and wrong in principle; the doctrine and practice of anarchists.  2. anarchy; confusion; lawlessness.  An anarchist is 1. one who believes in or advocates anarchism as a social and political theory.  2. one who promotes anarchy.

Archon, [Gr. archon, a ruler, from archein, to be first, to rule]  1.  in ancient Athens, one of nine chief magistrates, chosen from the most illustrious families to superintend civil and religious matters.  2.  a ruler. Archontic, one of a fourth century sect who held that the world was not created by God, but by heavenly rulers called archons.

More interesting information on archonhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archon and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archontics.  An interesting line from that last link:  ""They say," records Epiphanius, "that the soul is the food of the Archons and Powers without which they cannot live, because she is of the dew from above and gives them strength."

Research so far does show the word anarchy contains elements of lawlessness and disorder/chaos back to medieval times.  Also, there is a hint that the definition of archon today may have had its roots in a fourth century sect, which is another research project.

Of the cuff, your definition may have its source in those earlier beliefs about archons, or in a political ideology. A quick look shows anarchism can range from a utopic society to complete lawlessness.  But bottom line, both definitions are inherent in the word anarchy.  Over time, words evolve through usage.  And then shows like "Sons of Anarchy" emphasize one definition over another.  Just like the word "demogogue" used to mean a leader of the people, but now has been distorted to mean political emotionalism and manipulation.

  • I finally found the numbers and it is worse than I thought, Buy whatever name you choose it is just a reaction to murder and lots of it.

Residents are irate about rampant police brutality and corruption, with Albuquerque law enforcement officers having been responsible for 40 shootings since 2010, of which 25 were fatalities. The U.S. Justice Department also released a report last month which called for institutional reform to stem “patterns of excessive force” that have dogged the police department.

  • Based on my research, that definition from dictionary.com is incorrect.  It does not mean chaos, lawlessness or disorder.  That's the manipulated definition.  Archons are what the Gnostics identified as being the spiritual parasite that has taken over the planet.  "An" means without.  So you're without the spiritual parasitic leaders that have hijacked the planet.  Or, more simply, without rulers.  Not without rules or order.  That's taking the actual meaning of the word and adding additional outcomes to change its impact and meaning in people's minds.  Done quite successfully I might add.

  • Right Morris like Cheryl said we just need to get there and I believe we are getting close.

  • I agree, Morris.  But we have to survive getting to that point.

Byron, I've noticed that too... tv without the sound is far less powerful.

  • Within the soul of man of a human being of normal mind there is a  code of human conduct. A fairness of sorts as to how to treat a follow human being.  While not every one is able to abide by this code some are and and once the majority of human beings do abide by this code a new standard of living will emerge and this behavior of unfairness will be a behavior of the past.

  • If you listened to the Main stream TV  hype it sounds like they tore the walls down turn the sound off and just look at the people and you see a different picture in the video.

  • I agree.  And by enforcing just laws against the perpetrators is the best way to do it, rather than destroy society.  Sometimes, it does come to that, but the using the least force possible and then escalating to the next level if results are not achieved makes the best, least destructive sense.

  • The killing of unarmed citizens in this town has gone unpunished in this town and the people need to change their government and unlike most Amerikans they decided to take control. When they protested they were arrested last week. Their public servants do not work to serve and protect any longer. Starting at the local level is probably the best way to get to the top of our national problem.
