Part 1:  http://www.preparednesspro.com/blog/food-shortage-series-part-1/

"Point blank: We are in for some serious trouble with our food supply and consequently our ability to afford it on what we’re presently earning.  This trouble isn’t going to manifest itself in a year or two. Nope. We don’t have that much time in this particular area. Rather, it’s headed into our homes no longer than 6 months from now, and more likely to be obvious 6 weeks from now. Unless you’re enjoying an income that can take a 40-50% increase hit in your essential expenses, then I’m certain you will not be spared the impact of this snowball that’s rolling down hill, gaining in momentum and size; and it’s coming right to our front doors."

Part 2:  http://www.preparednesspro.com/blog/food-shortage-part-ii/

"Many of the stores I’ve spoken to all over the U.S. have shared with me that it’s not even a matter of how much an item is. They expect to have NONE of these items until the next crop, specifically your vegetables. Several local chains said that prices have increased 50-300% just in the last 72 hours. (I strongly suggest you stock up on frozen vegetables and make sure that you’ve got sprouting seeds to replace some of your vegetable nutrients that will be glaringly missing from your plates as soon as this weekend.)"

  • I so need to relocate......

  • The closest farmers market to me is 3 miles away.  This is the smallest one (I've never gone to them since I grow my own stuff).  But I will investigate and compare pricing when the market starts back in May or June.  The other farmer's market near me is 7 miles away which I think is bigger (never been to that one either).
  • Frozen veggies are a wonderful way to go because of minimal loss of nutrients and how long they can keep.....if you own a freezer save at least 3/4 of the space for veggies and the other 1/4 for meats......and for those who have issues with money start going to local food pantries until they run dry .... which will not take too long considering the state of affairs.
  • I don't know about the farmers' markets.  Let us know what you find out in your area.  Ours haven't started yet, probably be later in the spring.
  • Thanks for the heads up. Now what about the local farmer's markets, will veggies sky rocket there too?
I certainly will be planning a larger garden this year.
  • Good article.I keep having this dream where I'm responsible for feeding hundreds of children. Thus at the end of this month (February) I will wrap up the last of my businesses and head for Montana.

I read "One Second After", which has a great sense of details .... except no Military unit is going to show up with salvation. It will fall to communities to find it within themselves to save them selfs.
