This reminds me of the powerful Northridge earthquake in 1994. It was initially broadcast that it was a 7.0, then it quickly changed to two earthquakes, one following on the heels of the other, something like 6.9, then 6.8. Why?
I had a friend who was friends with the daughter of the Cal Tech spokesperson. She said the government has to give money for rebuilding if the quake is 7.0 or higher. Below 7.0, the government loans money.
Everything seems to be going "historic proportions." Most recently the 62 tornadoes that hit NC this past week broke a decades-old record by THREE TIMES!

FYI, Ning is in Palo Alto, CA, just 35 miles south of San Francisco. If Frisco goes, Ning will probably go down too.
