So it was set for Ceasium 137. Now the mode of penetration. Radiation enters the body through inhalation, ingestion and proximity to the source. Since it release gamma rays, it has the capacity to penetrate the human body, but because it takes some times before cancer develop, it is an astute way to blame other factor. At that level, people on this flight may have experience some skin redness. And again if you do not know this, you will associate the redness to other cause.

Good points, Rosemary.  I took the cue to look it up.

From that link, it is stated that "None of the instruments listed in this website detect neutron, microwave, RF (radio frequency), laser, infrared, or ultraviolet radiation. All of the instruments are most accurate for Cesium 137 and isotopes of similar energies. Some isotopes detected relatively well are Cobalt 60, Technicium 99M, Phosphorous 32, Strontium 90, and many forms of Radium, Plutonium, Uranium, and Thorium."

"Our instruments are calibrated to Cesium 137, but also serve as excellent indicators for many other sources of ionizing radiation."

It goes on to give an airplane example:  "As an example; say your background level is 25 CPM (counts per minute) where you live. When you fly in an air plane at 30,000 feet your rate meter is getting 200 CPM for anywhere between 2 to 5 hours. That is 8 times what your normal background is on the ground, but it is for a limited amount of time. There are non-occupational dose limits set by the government which is 100 mR per year above background per year."

The radiation reading are not convincing. Whenever we fly  we are mostly exposed to Cosmic Radiation in a greater amount then if we were at ground level. What these picture fail to do is tell us what type of radiation were measured. If it was Ceasium 137, I would agree to a Fukushima provenance.

And yes people who are pilots and Flight attendant have a higher rate of cancer. This is caused by Cosmic Radiation and the changes to their Circadian Rythms.

Belief is an important aspect of determining whether things affect you or not.  If you believe Fukushima radiation is killing you, then you open the door to it affecting you.  If you believe you are immune or that it's being cleaned up and can't hurt you, it won't impact you in the slightest.  Of course most strong beliefs are rooted in the subconscious so just saying you're immune won't necessarily make it so.  However, one of the things we need to realize is that we are not just victims, but rather active participants in creating our lives and our realities.  :)
