Look at the following web service for yourself folks. Something is killing mass amounts of birds and fish worldwide. This is by no means a rare event for the past year. Something is happening. In the military Parakeets are used as early warning system to detect chemical attacks.

About 1,000 black birds fell from the sky over Beebe on Friday night, the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission said in a news release Saturday. Around 11:30 p.m., the commission began receiving phone calls about the birds, most of which were dead and fell over a 1-mile span, the release said. Wildlife officer Robby King collected about 65 dead birds that will be sent to the Arkansas Livestock and Poultry Commission lab and the National Wildlife Health Center lab in Madison, Wis. Officers flew over the area and determined no birds had fallen outside that part of the city, the release said. Commission ornithologist Karen Rowe said in the release that the flock could have been hit by lightning or high-altitude hail.

Thousands of birds fall from the sky in Beebe

Just before folks in Beebe rang in the New Year, many witnessed an uncanny resemblance to the Hitchcock movie "The Birds." About 2,000 black birds fell from the sky off Windwood Drive, leaving quite the mess to clean up.

Folks Today's THV spoke with initially thought the birds were poisoned because they are what they call a nuisance around this time every year, but they are surprised to hear it is more of a mystery.

Stephen Bryant recalls, "Millions, millions fly over every night. You look up at the sky and it's just black and then last night at about 10:30 I came out here and saw a bird drop."

In a matter of hours on New Years Eve thousands of birds fell from the sky to their death.

Melissa Weatherly says, "I immediately called mom because I had to go to work, I said you have to come get the kids and get the dog because I don't know what's going on." She continues, "It was horrible; you could not even get down the road without running over hundreds. It was that bad."

The mystery is unraveling like scenes from a movie, dozens of U.S. Environmental Services crews spent the day picking up the birds, walking between homes and climbing on people roofs with protective hazmat suits and breathing masks,.

Charles Boldrey stands outside watching the crews, "Nobody knows, I asked these guys who are out here picking them up and they don't seem to know anything, nobody seems to know anything. It just kind of freaked everybody out."

Dead fish cover 20-mile section of Arkansas River

Posted: Jan 01, 2011 7:20 PM PST Saturday, January 1, 2011 10:20 PM EST Updated: Jan 01, 2011 7:20 PM PST Saturday, January 1, 2011 10:20 PM EST
OZARK, Ark. (AP) - An Arkansas Game and Fish Commission spokesman says dead drum fish now cover a 20-mile section of the Arkansas River near Ozark.

Seven teams from the state agency visited the affected portion of the river Friday. Commission spokesman Keith Stephens says an official estimate of how many fish have died is expected on Monday, but he tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette that the number is likely in the hundreds of thousands.

The commission determined the fish died in the river from a dam near Ozark to a bridge along State Highway 109 near Clarksville.

Stephens says some of the live drum fish were sick and will be sent to a lab at the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff for testing.

Drum fish are bottom feeders that eat other fish and insects.

7.1 magnitude earthquake hits Chile

A 7.1 magnitude earthquake has hit off the central coast of Chile, according to US authorities.

The US Geological Survey said the earthquake occurred at 2020 GMT, offshore the Bio-bio region in central Chile, a region struck by a massive 8.8 earthquake in February 2010.

It occurred at a depth of 20.5 miles (33 kilometres).

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage from the quake, which centre some 370 miles southwest of the capital, Santiago.

"No destructive widespread tsunami threat exists based on historical earthquake and tsunami data," the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said in a bulletin.

Heavy flooding (again) in Queensland, Australia

I think they got hit with flooding back in March, only to experience this again.  And the rivers have not even crested yet, some guy on CNN this morning said it will be three days when they finally crest. YIKES!  And the electric companies there are turning off electricity to homes and businesses due to safety reasons.

Queensland Floods Hit Mines, Crops, May Cost Billions

Dec. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Heavy rain and flooding that’s swept across the Australian state of Queensland may cost billions of dollars after crops were destroyed and output from coal mines was disrupted, Premier Anna Bligh said.

“It’s without precedent in our recorded history, with so many places in so many diverse parts of the state each affected so critically at once,” Bligh said today, according to an e- mailed transcript. “I expect that we’ll still be managing some of this until the end of January. This is a disaster that is going to run into the billions of dollars.”

Strong 7.0 Earthquake Hits Northern Argentina

A magnitude-7.0 earthquake struck a rural area of northern Argentina Saturday morning, but its epicenter was so deep that it gave only a light shake to towns nearby.

The U.S. Geological Survey said Saturday that the quake, initially registered at 6.9, hit at 6:56 a.m. about 115 miles northeast of Santiago del Estero at a depth of 350 miles.

It was not immediately clear if there were any injuries or damage, but the earthquake was hardly felt in Santiago del Estero, the provincial capital, where Emilio Abdala, a receptionist at the 14-story Hotel Casino Carlos V, told The Associated Press that nobody felt a thing.
