The US Is Sending 4 Of These State Of The Art Destroyers To Join The Contested European Missile Shield

Despite chest-pounding Russian protests, the US is moving ahead with plans to install a missile defense shield to protect NATO European territory, and has committed four of its 60 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers to sit off the coast of Spain.

Geoff Ziezulewicz of Stars and Stripes reports that the ships will deploy to the 6th fleet in Rota, and bring with them a full Lockheed Martin Aegis combat system with a long list of heavy ordnance and a “detect to kill” radar array.

The radar system, and the ability to send missiles to destroy incoming ballistic missiles, is what the Russians are so upset about.

At over 500 feet in length, and costing almost $2 billion apiece, the Arleigh Burke class are among the largest destroyers in the American fleet and play a key role in missile defense.

Along with the array of radar, the Navy’s website points out the full weapons systems carried on each ship includes:

• 96 cell Mk 41 vertical launch system
• BGM-109 Tomahawk
• RGM-84 Harpoon SSM
• RIM-66M Standard medium range SAM (has an ASuW mode)
• RIM-161 Standard Ballistic missile defense missile for Aegis BMD
• RIM-162 ESSM SAM
• RUM-139 Vertical Launch ASROC
• RIM-174A Standard ERAM
• one 5 inch (127 mm/54) Mk-45 Mod 1/2 (lightweight gun)
• one 5 inch (127 mm/62) Mk-45 mod 4 (lightweight gun)
• two 20 mm Phalanx CIWS, two 25 mm bushmasters
• two Mark 32 triple torpedo tubes (six Mk-46 or Mk-50 torpedoes, Mk-54 in the near future)

The official Navy line seems to be downplaying the role of the ships in the Missile Defense Shield, saying the destroyers will be tasked with a variety of missions within the 6th Fleet’s 20 million square miles of sea.

It will be interesting to see how far they actually stray from European coast.

Laura Jackson claims (by way of Edgar Cayce prophecies) that the east coast will raise along the continental shelf, that's versus the claim that the east coast will decrease. Along with the continental shelf area, according to her, Novia Scotia and the east coast of Florida will gain land. Isn't this contra to what we've been told elsewhere?

This is a fascinating paper which, among many other things, asserts that 300-400 Annunaki are already living on Earth and are essentially running the show.  They are also not on particularly good terms with the "incoming" Annunaki who still live on Nibiru (supposedly...).  The authors belong to a group which (supposedly, again...) meets with assorted aliens on a yearly basis for several days, and has been doing so for several years.  Supposedly, once again, Reagan was aware of the "incoming" [Nibiru] and several times in official appearances [the UN address being the most famous] spoke of what would happen [our differences would disappear, etc.] if aliens attacked.  Supposedly the government has been aware of the "incoming" since the late 70's.  May be all fantasy, but still worth a read, IMO.  Much of the information supposedly (there's that word again...) came for insiders who acted as anonymous informants over the course of several years of investigation.  Let me know what you think!

I have to be careful here as John Dinardo has written a post with this in mind however this subject is one that a few lines will not suffice to do justice to it.

It  is something i have given a lot of thought to, for a long time, not too deeply but have born it in mind . For myself I  am in the position of the lone male with few if any attachments and can quite easily take to the open road if all hell broke loose in the planet X scenario. Others have options quite a lot different . Families, ill health, old age etc.However, i hope to bring up some ideas as for food, shelter, wind protection etc etc for all of us as we will need them at some time.. There may one or two errors, , please correct any I make. Beside being a worthwhile exercise for myself, I hope it will encourage others to think about this and at least have a bases for self protection when events get serious.

I have said elsewhere that the first and foremast preparation is spiritual preparedness. I cannot overemphasize this enough. Start here the keep going.I am not going into religion as I have none, save life itself which is sanctified enough and we need no more than that.

So assuming this base is covered, what then.  The basis of all life is water, I have said elsewhere about making a water filter using charcoal and sand and gravel. The first thing we must do is have at least one maybe several water butts connected to the drain spouts of our home and any outbuildings as they do  in Australia and the water is quite drinkable believe me.. They store water in huge  vessels connected to most country homes, if you can afford it think about this.They are several hundred gallon capacity. It is clean fresh and tastes great.

However we are thinking here about a cataclysm where not only volcanic ash and such but possibly debris and chemicals from outer space. Plus there may be a lot of pathogens in the air and mold which is why for me this water we collect is not guaranteed to be readily drinkable. It may need filtering and purifying using bleach, plain sodium hypochlorate will do, or similar. Just a few drops per liter then let the water stand so the chlorine can evaporate.

One person today on coast to coast says we should store water in smaller bottles as the opening of any one will introduce bacteria , this makes no sense to me so long as we add a few drops of bleach or similar every time and allow the chlorine to evaporate. It is a matter of choice and what is available.also he says store it in a dark place which makes no sense to me as  sunlight will help sterilize it in about six hours. These must be thought about.

Here’s the best thing that can be said about the new detention powers the Senate has tucked into next year’s defense bill: They don’t force the military to detain American citizens indefinitely without a trial. They just let the military do that. And even though the leaders of the military and the spy community have said they want no such power, the Senate is poised to pass its bill as early as tonight.

There are still changes swirling around the Senate, but this looks like the basic shape of the 2012 National Defense Authorization Act. Someone the government says is “a member of, or part of, al-Qaida or an associated force” can be held in military custody “without trial until the end of the hostilities authorized by the Authorization for Use of Military Force.” Those hostilities are currently scheduled to end the Wednesday after never. The move would shut down criminal trials for terror suspects.

But far more dramatically, the detention mandate to use indefinite military detention in terrorism cases isn’t limited to foreigners. It’s confusing, because two different sections of the bill seem to contradict each other, but in the judgment of the University of Texas’ Robert Chesney — a nonpartisan authority on military detention — “U.S. citizens are included in the grant of detention authority.”

An amendment that would limit military detentions to people captured overseas failed on Thursday afternoon. The Senate soundly defeated a measure to strip out all the detention provisions on Tuesday.

So despite the Sixth Amendment’s guarantee of a right to trial, the Senate bill would let the government lock up any citizen it swears is a terrorist, without the burden of proving its case to an independent judge, and for the lifespan of an amorphous war that conceivably will never end. And because the Senate is using the bill that authorizes funding for the military as its vehicle for this dramatic constitutional claim, it’s pretty likely to pass.

It would be one thing if the military was clamoring for the authority to become the nation’s jailer. But to the contrary: Defense Secretary Leon Panetta opposes the maneuver. So does CIA Director David Petraeus, who usually commands deference from senators in both parties. Pretty much every security official has lined up against the Senate detention provisions, from Director of National Intelligence James Clapper to FBI Director Robert Mueller, who worry that they’ll get in the way of FBI investigations of domestic terrorists. President Obama has promised to veto the bill.

Which is ironic. After all, Obama approved of the execution without trial of Anwar al-Awlaki, al-Qaida’s YouTube preacher, based entirely on the unproven assertion that Awlaki was dangerous. Awlaki was an American citizen. So Obama thinks he has the right to kill Americans the government says are terrorists, but he doesn’t want the military to lock them up forever without trial. OK then.

Weirder still, the bill’s chief architect, Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), tried to persuade skeptics that the bill wasn’t so bad. His pitch? “The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States,” he said on the Senate floor on Monday. The bill would just let the government detain a citizen in military custody, not force it to do that. Reassured yet?

Civil libertarians aren’t. Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) said it “denigrates the very foundations of this country.” Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) added, “it puts every single American citizen at risk.”

But there’s a reason this measure goes into the defense bill: Voting against the defense bill is usually considered political suicide. That’s why the bill will almost certainly pass tonight. If Obama backs down from his veto threat, get ready to see Americans at Guantanamo Bay.
